Dear Karité Family,
We wanted to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves- the three sisters behind Karité- and share the heart behind the brand you’ve come to know and love.
Karité was born from our Ghanaian roots and our desire to create clean, effective skincare for all skin types. Growing up, we used raw shea butter daily- a cherished ritual passed down by generations of women in our family. Today, we’ve combined that time-honored tradition with modern science to bring you luxurious, dermatologist-approved formulas, free of toxins and full of rich botanicals.
⚕️Naana Boakye, M.D., MPH is our CEO and a board-certified dermatologist who’s treated over 18,000 patients. She leads product formulation and ensures every Karité product meets the highest medical standards.
⚖️ Abena Slowe, our COO, is an attorney who keeps our operations running smoothly- from managing vendor relationships to getting your orders delivered on time.
📣 Akua Okunseinde, our CCO, brings 15+ years of experience in global marketing and sales at companies such as American Express and Google. She drives our creative storytelling and community engagement (hello, Instagram fam!).
Together, we’re proud to run a family-owned brand that’s deeply committed to excellent products, sustainability, inclusivity, and giving back, especially to the women-led shea cooperatives in Ghana that make our work possible.
