Welcome back to Founder Q&A! In this installment, we wanted to share a little more about ourselves—our favorite products, the surprises we’ve encountered along the way, and what feedback has truly touched our hearts. We hope these stories give you a deeper look at Karité, the mission behind every jar, and the women who make it all possible.
What’s your most favorite Karité product?
Abena: It’s hard to pick just one, but if I had to, it’s the Créme Corps Hydrating Body Cream. Every time I use it, I’m reminded of why we started this journey. The way it melts into the skin, leaving it nourished and supple without any greasy residue, is exactly what we dreamed of creating. It’s a product that feels luxurious yet grounded in simplicity and heritage—the perfect blend of care and effectiveness.
What’s a product you almost didn’t launch — and what changed your mind?
Naana: Our Baume à Lèvres nearly didn’t make it. At first, we weren’t sure if a lip balm could stand out in such a crowded market. But after extensive testing and seeing how deeply it nourished and protected, we realized it deserved to exist. It’s now one of our most-loved items, and every time someone tells us it saved their dry lips, we’re so grateful we didn’t let doubt hold us back.
What’s the best feedback you’ve ever received from a customer?
Akua: One piece of feedback really stuck with me: a customer told us that our cream reminded her of the shea butter her grandmother used back in Ghana. That connection—to culture, heritage, and comfort—is exactly what we aim for. It reminds us that our work isn’t just about skincare; it’s about creating moments of care, memory, and trust.
How do you want people to feel when they use your products?
Naana: Our goal is simple: we want people to feel confident, cared for, and connected. Every application should feel like a small ritual of self-love, a moment to pause and honor your skin while knowing the ingredients are clean, effective, and ethically sourced. We want every jar to carry not just hydration, but a sense of purpose—nourishing skin while supporting the women who make our shea butter possible.

Naana, Abena, and Akua
